I was a little concerned that my post all about ME would seem a little self-centered. After all, this is a blog about the family, not about me. So, to make up for it I thought I would try to list 25 Random Things about Us:

1. We sleep late. All of us. Getting somewhere by 10:00am is the equivalent of morning folks getting somewhere at the crack of dawn. (Except for the big guys, they actually have to leave in the morning. )

2. Our new favorite game is Speed Scrabble. Everyone starts with seven tiles and tries to use them all to make words, just like Scrabble. When you have used all your tiles you call out "take" and everyone takes another until all the tiles are taken and someone has been able to use all of his. Great fun!

3. We don't watch television, at least not in real time. We have no cable, direct tv or even network tv. We do use Netflix to watch old tv shows like Gilligan and Bewitched, and we own past seasons of 24 and Early Edition. So, don't bother asking us if we have seen a certain commercial or show. We will have no clue what you are talking about.

4.We are reading Just David as our family read aloud right now.

5. We love corned beef.

6. A favorite family pastime is to watch the screensaver on the computers: it is a slideshow of our family photos.

7. My girls love to dance for anyone who will watch them.

8. My guys like playing football on the XBox. Even the baby gets in on the act.

(Whew, this is hard! I guess we are pretty boring! I think I will try to list one or two things about each kid. That's easier!)

9. Charlie can bench 295#. Even more impressive, I am told, is that it is 110# more than he weighs!

10. Katherine loves to read and drink tea. For the last week or so, she has been reading about one Anne of Green Gables book a day, I think. This is in addition to schoolwork and learing a new piano piece. Slacker. 😉

11. Timmy is my resident baby putter-to-sleeper when Daddy isn't home. I won't divulge his methods, but let's just say that it is an arrangement that works for us all. ( I get quiet time, Timmy gets football time!)

12. Regina is learning how to cook. She is very thorough and asks LOTS of questions!

13. Elizabeth has a thing for cookbooks. Her job, (self-assigned, believe me), is to read me the recipe that I am making. At least she is getting a lot of practice with doubling fractions.

14. Clare is my fashionista. She loves clothes and dressing up.

15. Teresa just mastered riding a three-wheeled scooter. She is so cute riding around the driveway, singing to herself!

16. Augustine is all boy. The other day he paired up a spoon and a pie pan and walked around banging them and enjoying the "music" he was making.

17. I taught the kids and Court how to play Frisbee Golf. And now they beat me.

18. The kids (except Charlie) all go to sleep listening to Jim Weiss at night.

19. We are always amazed to find out that there are people who don't know who Danny Kaye and Cary Grant are. What do these people watch!

20. Much to my dismay, I believe that all of the children have inherited their parents' "messy" gene. A clean room to these guys is everything picked up off of the floor. Just don't try to sit on a couch or chair.

21. Our favorite restaurant is Lonestar but we don't go there anymore because kids don't eat free on Tuesdays anymore. 🙁

22. We all like Italian food. Throw in a salad and some yummy bread and we've got a feast!

23. Movie night usually means everyone piling onto Mommy and Daddy's bed and the toddler bed to watch movies on our old TV. The family room is just too cold and dark and roomy! 😉

24. We are a "baseball" family. As the girls get bigger, we may change to a "soccer" family. Sorry, Daddy!

25. My kids are each other's best friends (with a few extra teenagers thrown in for Charlie). They love each other and each new baby and still talk about having a dozen or more kids when all is said and done! We must be doing something right.

Okay, that was way harder than I thought it would be! Hat tip to anyone brave enough to try it. Leave me a comment with your link if you do.
